What is Occupational Wellness?

One of the major impacts of the pandemic has been in the workplace. Frontline workers are plunged into life-and-death situations; millions of people have shifted to remote work; and lengthy commutes are a thing of the past, at least for now.

Since most of us spend 40 hours (or more) at work every week, Occupational strength is one of the most important of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.

The pandemic has caused some people to rethink their Occupational choices – especially the need for long journeys on the tube or on the motorways. It’s only when one stops commuting that one realizes how much time is consumed daily, throwing work-life balance out of wack.

At the same time, Covid has reminded us about some of the positive aspects of our workplaces. We miss chatting with colleagues and popping out for lunch. And, let’s face it, a regular salary is appreciated during a period when many are finding themselves on the dole.

As personal investors, 8 Dimension Ventures team members have supported companies that are involved in Occupational wellness. For example, Good 60 is a marketplace that connects conscientious consumers across the UK with artisan producers and local shops. Shoppers can purchase vegan brownies, ethically sourced fresh fish and beautiful blooms. When they spend their cash, they are supporting the Occupational goals of a wide variety of local businesses.
